Digital Media Art Faculty Exhibition: August 26- October 3, 2025
The Natalie and James Thompson Art Gallery is pleased to present this periodic exhibition of recent works by current faculty members in Digital Media Art (DMA). The exhibition showcases the work of Andrew Blanton, Sarah Buckius, Steve Durie, Esteban Garcia Bravo, Ghosh, G. Craig Hobbs, Rhonda Holberton, Lark Lareau, James Morgan, Lexygius Sanchez Calip, and Saul Villegas. Displaying a wide range of media, style, and technique, the exhibiting artists share an interest in working with digital media and a devotion to teaching. As part of the DMA program at SJSU, these faculty members share a dedication to the advancement of contemporary technologies through research and experimentation at the intersection of art and science.
This exhibition also marks the 40th anniversary of SJSU’s CADRE Media Lab, the hub of Digital Media Art activity at San José State University where students, faculty, and visiting artists gather to explore the future of technology and art. Founded in 1985, the CADRE (Computers in Art, Design, Research, and Education) Media Lab has a long legacy of research surrounding critical and practical applications of technology in creative practices. This exhibition and a series of events planned for the 2025-2026 academic year honor the history of the program as much as they look to the future.
