Advising

Academic Advising - FALL 2026

Please be sure to schedule your academic advising during the semester to ensure that your advising hold is removed in a timely fashion. Advising begins on the first day of class and ends on the last day of class every semester. There is no advising during the week of final exams or during winter, spring, and summer breaks for continuing students.

Please Note:

  • If you do not receive advising during the semester, you will not be able to preregister for your courses, and courses may fill up. This applies to all undergraduate and graduate students. 
  • If you require AE Department Chair signatures on any of your documents, please allow at least 72 hours, as all documents must be reviewed before being signed.

Freshmen

Professor Hunter advises Freshman students. Advising is by appointment only. Please schedule an appointment in advance through email: jeanine.hunter@sjsu.edu.

Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors

Dr. Aravamudhan advises Sophomores, Junior, and Seniors. You are welcome to drop in during their office hours; however, priority goes to those with appointments. Make an appointment through Spartan Connect or email radha.aravamudhan@sjsu.edu. You may also schedule w/ the front desk at the AE Office (ENG 272).

Dr. Radha Aravamudhan's advising hours for the Fall 2026 semester (beginning the week of August 24th) are as follows: 

  • Tuesday: 2 PM - 4 PM (In-Person - AE Office - ENG 272 Conference Room)
  • Wednesday: 2 PM - 4 PM (In-Person - AE Office - ENG 272 Conference Room)
  • Thursday: 2 PM - 4 PM (Zoom link will be on Spartan Connect)

To schedule an appointment: 

  1. Login to Spartan Connect
  2. Click on Appointments, Drop-ins, and Workshops & Events (Top Right Corner)
  3. Under “What service area would you like?” Select Academic Advising
  4. Under “Service” Select Aerospace Engineering Major Advising
  5. Click Find Available Time

MSAE Students, SAGE Students, and BSAE Students with Difficult Questions

Dr. Nikos Mourtos advises graduate students, SAGE students, and undergraduate students with special cases (e.g., transfer students, students with prerequisite issues, and other) as needed. Please schedule an appointment via Spartan Connect.  You may also schedule w/ the front desk at the AE Office.
