Disqualification and Reinstatement

Disqualification

Undergraduate students on academic notice are subject to Academic Disqualification if their SJSU GPA for the Fall or Spring semester is below 2.0.

First-year students who have not raised their SJSU GPA to 2.0 or higher will remain on academic notice and will not be disqualified until they have either completed 30 units at SJSU or finished three semesters—whichever happens first.

Reinstatement & Readmission

Reinstatement is a different process from readmission. Readmission of a disqualified student is not possible unless reinstatement has been approved, but students must note that reinstatement does not guarantee readmission. In some cases, students may request reinstatement without planning to return to SJSU, such as when they need to transfer to another college or program.

All returning students must submit an application for admission to SJSU at Cal State Apply by the published deadline.
