The Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement (IPACE) was created by the Political Science Department in 2012. IPACE regularly sponsors candidate forums and other civic engagement events, in partnership with other civic and community engagement initiatives such as SJSU Votes, the Center for Community Learning & Leadership, and CommUniverCity. IPACE is nonpartisan and is committed to civic action and civil discourse. IPACE provides democratic learning opportunities to students and is designed to facilitate the study of politics and public policy in the Silicon Valley and the civic engagement of students through internships, service learning, and sponsorship of research talks led by SJSU faculty and members of the broader community.
