Staff Professional Development (SPD)
The College of Engineering (CoE) is committed to supporting the continuous growth and professional advancement of our staff. If you are planning to apply for Staff Professional Development (SPD) funding for the current fiscal year, please review the guidelines and application instructions below.
Key Funding Guidelines
- Funding Limit: Eligible staff members can receive up to $1,000 per fiscal year for approved professional development activities.
- Pre-Approval Required: Before submitting your SPD application, you must coordinate
with your lead and/or supervisor and obtain approval for the proposed event.
- Note: If you report to both a Lead and a Supervisor, both approvals are required before proceeding.
- Plan Ahead: The review and approval process can take several weeks or longer. We highly recommend submitting your requests well in advance of your event.
- Post-Event Requirement: Upon completing your professional development activity, you are required to submit a summary of the activity and training no later than 30 days after the event concludes.
How to Apply via DocuSign
The SPD application process is fully digital and managed through DocuSign. To launch your application, follow these steps:
- Log in to your one.sjsu.edu then click on DocuSign account.
- Click on the "Templates" tab at the top of the page.
- In the left-hand menu, select "Shared with me" or "All Templates".
- In the template search bar, type "professional" to locate the form.
- Select "Engineering Staff Professional Development Application" to begin.
